This was a breezy read, and rather fun. I enjoyed several elements of the book, the Milwaukee setting, the food reviews and descriptions and the growing relationship between Al and Lou. The elements I thought felt contrived and strange were Lou's relationship with Devlin (how could he keep on thinking she was still with him?), the German couple that came to dinner every night (if they grew up in Milwaukee, why did they speak English with an accent?) and how that story arc unfolded, the rather st

This book sparked my need/rekindled my desire to read more lighthearted romance books after having invested so much time in dark fantasy novels and murder mysteries.
Reichert skillfully crafts a love story between a cynic and a dreamer, showing their courtship from beginning to end through shared experiences and their love of a good meal. It is a sweet read that begins with a devastating breakup and goes on to cover the true meaning of family, strong friendships and second chances.
