Whenever I start to read a novel based on history, I'm a little nervous because I always wonder how many liberties the author has taken. Because I've read so much about Ulysses S. Grant (including his Memoirs) I was curious about this, mostly because his wife--whom he loved dearly--is not much mentioned in most books about him.
