What Members Thought
This was a jolly short read that immersed me straight away in South African class and caste culture. It makes no concessions to the non-SA reader and bristles with insider references and asides, also peppered with Zulu and Xhosa and Afrikaans terms, most of which were not kindleable. I loved that. I loved feeling like an outsider and the sense of a whole wide world out there that I knew nothing of. Also makes me realise how much comedy and humour can depend on insiderishness.
