I enjoyed the different points of view, some of them surprised me. But for the most part, this wasn’t a good book for me. It felt emotional, which is good, but also it felt emotionally manipulative, which is not good.

There’s lots (and lots and lots) of internal dialogue, and a lot of it is rather twee. Much of it is along the lines of:

A sweet short novel about a Nigerian woman on the cusp of her 75th birthday. She was a literature professor before her retirement and has a flat full of books. She also led a globetrotting life - from Jos in north Nigeria to Lagos, India, Paris. She has now lived in San Francisco for 20 years.
