For 75% of the time I was in love with this book. It got me thinking about parenting, gender, family secrets—honestly, I was 4/5 or even 5/5 stars happy with it for the first couple hundred pages. Then the last quarter of it completely lost me—it felt too fake, and not only the genuineness of the story, but even the dialogue started to come up short.
