The "ingenious scheme" at the heart of this novel progresses from intriguing to implausible to, ultimately, wholly ridiculous. A lot of pieces of this highly detailed plan have to fall into place for it to work and, conveniently, they do. Every last one. To say more would spoil your own inevitable frustration with the book's "twist" ending. ...more

There’s no other way to say this…the writing in this book is…weird! The narrator speaks and thinks like a rich, 50 year old, transatlantic, psychotic boarding school graduate. But she’s meant to be a 25 year old from upstate New York. I mean…I have no reason to think that half the words she uses would make sense for who she is supposed to be.
