2.5 stars. In the interview at the end of these stories, Gay claims that she "contains multitudes and a very dark imagination." Indeed, most of these stories are dark and disturbing. For me, there was too much rough and heartless sex, too many characters (particularly women) who enjoyed pain and being degraded. I couldn't get on board with many of the storylines or relate to really any of the characters. Gay writes speculatively, imaginatively, and experimentally and addresses meaningful topics
