Its a story about a smart, intelligent 7yo-turning-to-8yo girl who loves her granny a lot. Both are different, and crazy in their own ways and share a secret world of their own. There is not much in the story but her relationship with her granny, her parents, her pets and her neighbors has been beautifully portrayed through out the book.

This one follows the classical recipe of Backman novel, which anyone that has read any of his books will know (and probably) appreciate: interesting story, unusual but very human-like characters, spoon-size chunks of the story which results in rather lengthy books and twists which add flavor to it. I personally enjoy these novels, but as the time goes by and all the Backman novels are more or less following the same pattern, I am starting to lose interest in them. What an amazing story that just tugs at your heart! Elsa is a little girl whose grandmother means everything to her and who has helped her cope with the horrors of being harassed and bullied because she doesn't fit in. Her grandmother teaches her that is okay to be different, through the method of creating fantasy worlds to help her cope. (view spoiler)
