What a treat to read such good writing and character development! This was a fantastic book, by an acclaimed writer, so I shouldn't be surprised. Chaim Potok wrote The Chosen, which I think I might have read sometime back in the dark ages--before my current Reading Log which starts in 1992. He is a very good writer, evocative and engaging, drawing the reader into the life of a young girl named Ilana Davita, growing up in the 1930s-1940s in New York City (Brooklyn).
