Ted Systead is a special agent for the Department of the Interior. He has been sent to the scene of a murder in Glacier National Park involving a man tied to a tree and mauled by a grizzly bear. Ted's dad was killed by a grizzly when they were camping in Glacier when Ted was 14 and this case is bringing back a lot of memories of that event. "What we do reverberates way beyond what you can ever imagine."
I liked the story better than I had expected, considering this not my usual genre. I picked it up for two challenges, one being a suspenseful thriller and the other including the word, "wild." I liked how the title tied into the book. Some of the main events and the secondary ones were horrific, but some of the descriptions of the setting were equally as detailed and quite beautiful. The story aside, the author's sense of place, Glacier National Park, is wonderful. She makes me want to visit (in the summer).
