Terrific writing. Spot on audiobook performance. What a charming, moving story.
Fans of Major Pettigrew's Last Sand and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society will be disappointed with this novel that hits all the expected narrative beats but fails to deliver the charm or authenticity of characters found in the aforementioned. Reads like a shadow of what it sets out to be.
