Got this one at the library for beach reading as I've long had a soft spot for Francis' horsey tales. Darned if I didn't jump the gun and read the thing long before toe touched sand. Happily, there are plenty more quick-paced thrillers at the library that I can lug to the beach.

Dick Francis did it again with another suspense filled novel set amongst the horse world This one have a glimpse into the life of polo and explained some of the basics as well as some unique nuances. The storyline was well written with the various unknowns being unraveled at appropriate times. I felt the experience Max had and the way it haunted him was an realistic representation of how someone would react to the situation he found himself in. I love Dick Francis books - the problem is I've read so many of them, I've lost track of which ones I haven't read. Every Dick Francis book is ultimately the same book, only the names and details have been changed. It's kind of like eating an Oreo: simple, satisfying, and exactly what you expected. That sounds a bit like a slam on the book, but it's not - many days, I just want to sit down w/ something I know already but yet haven't read - that's why I love genre fiction.
