Unlikeable protagonist in a "she can't get it together" way, and it wasn't endearing to me at all. Plot was interesting at times, but ultimately I lost interest in figuring out what happened, and when I did find out what happened, I was "meh" about it. I guess it's comparable to Tana French in that it takes place in the UK, it's a police procedural/mystery novel, and the characters clearly have their own demons they have to figure out, but the richness of the characters and the intricacies of br

I really liked it! Kept me reading, loved the police procedural set in the UK and how human the characters were. Will definitely read the sequel and more from Ms. Steiner.
Lots of really sad people in uncomfortable and really bad situations. Felt bad myself the whole time reading it. Got to have some happy people in a book.
