This reads like a long prose poem that will at times make you uncomfortable, at other times fill you with a strange sense of longing/yearning/anomie, and at other times still, infuriate you (as the quote from Elissa Schappell rightly observes). The writing is excellent. The eye for detail and description couldn't be sharper.
