I am not ready to review this amazing novel now, but I was completely mesmerized by it, the lovable characters, the beautiful story, and the amazing narrator . Boyle has become one my favorite authors.

This is a very long book, spanning seven decades of the life of its narrator. Some parts are very emotional for me, especially the way the narrator acted in his younger days, but it's very understandable considering his surroundings at the time.
I didn't know much about Ireland, especially related to its history with LGBTQ issue, so this book is a true eye opener, a different perspectives than the usual American/British point of views.

I almost don’t know how to describe how I felt about this book. I felt so many things. It’s not an edge-of-your-seat page turner, but I was completely drawn in and I kept thinking about the characters when I wasn’t reading. This book follows Cyril Avery and his efforts to find someone to love him. It’s a story about the ups and downs of life, about growing up gay in Catholic Ireland. It’s about making mistakes and about loss and about found family. And it is beautiful. This will go down as one o ...more
