Noa has been kicked out of her house after becoming pregnant by a Nazi officer and after giving birth her baby is taken away and she finds work as a cleaner at a German railway station. A train car full of babies without parents stops at the station and Noa takes one and flees. She ends up at a circuses winter quarters and is paired with Astrid to learn the trapeze.
