What Members Thought

If you are in the mood for a predictable comedy-romance, than "My Not so Perfect Life" is the book for you. I can understand the appeal but honestly felt it was by the numbers. Nothing about the characters felt original, the plot was conventional and our heroine was irritatingly good hearted. This is the kind of book, if you have the flu, that might be a good read. Nothing there that is thought provoking or upsetting. Not my cup of tea. I gave it three stars.

I really enjoy Sophie Kinsella's books, and this was no exception. It is a very good story about being yourself after trying to be someone else with a fake, re-invented life, one that certainly didn't work out well. One of the most interesting things is the 'appearances can be very deceiving' plot lines involving another character. Overall, it is a very satisfying read.

Katie Brenner has an entry level job doing product branding. She has a tiny apartment and a horrible commute. Her boss seems perfect but half the office hates her. Katie is fired and ends up moving back to her family farm and helping them set up a glamping business. There was of course a cute guy at her old job and he shows up at Katie's new job as does her former boss. I liked Katie and the book was a quick read though it was rather long.
