This was depressing, and kind of pointless, but I suspect these characters will stay with me for a long time (even though I didn't really like any of them).

I couldn't seem to put this one down. Between the very elegant prose, the mystery, and the beautiful sadness that permeates the whole story, I was quite enthralled. This was one of those books I read without reading the blurb, so I had no idea what it was about. I'm so glad I did it that way.
