I've read so many reviews on Goodreads of The Middle of Somewhere, and I know it has appealed to a lot of readers. It did to me as well. What I loved about it was the smoothness of the writing, the humor, the mix of dark and light, the very precise depictions of the logistics of hiking and the challenges of the trails, exhaustion, etc. Basically it is a book about a woman who is forced to deal with her past while hiking the John Muir Trail with her boyfriend.
