A beautiful, bittersweet story with all the feels.
Wow, Gary Schmidt writes such great books. This one is more serious. It’s a tragic story, but with some very hopeful and inspiring elements. Joseph has had a rough life, abused by his father and finally finds respite with his girlfriend. Joseph had rough breaks on all sides end up in a juvenile detention center, a father to a girl he has never seen. Twelve year-old Jack’s parents foster Joseph and together they give him hope.
