I must confess I was a bit disappointed in this book initially. I too heard about this on NPR and that Ann Patchett had recommended it as one of the best books she's ever read. So, I went in with really high expectations. This really wouldn't make it into my list of the best books ever. Once I got over my disappointment, I did see that it is a very good book. I enjoyed this book. It's always good to get some non-fiction into the mix. I heard all the news coverage and all that when this was happening but reading the in-depth account was interesting. This book was a good mix of first hand accounts of both the trapped miners, the families, and the rescuers. It also had enough mining and geologic details but not so much that my eyes glazed over.

Book for our Book Group & it will be interesting to see what everyone else thought. An important story but not always riveting to get through.
