North Dakota seems to be an unforgiving place both for honest folk and those not so honest, but the good guys triumph with a little help from an unlikely source.
This is a very good book that, even though fiction, deals with many themes, including the impact of the discovery of large amounts of oil in North Dakota. In addition to the change in the every day way of life for the citizens, there is also a change in the amount and type of crime that occurs. The story tells how a new detective has to help solve crimes involving the drug epidemic, a serial murderer, and corrupt cops within the department. It is a fast and absorbing read.
