A good mystery/thriller set in pre WWII Germany. The country is in the grip of an economic crisis, and the Nazis are inching closer to power, in an environment of impending doom and rising antisemitism.

There are a few flaws in the book, mostly linguistic, and I suspect they arose because of the author's unfamiliarity with the German language, but the story gives a good sense of what Berlin, Germany, and Germans were like during the 1930s. Hannah Vogel is a very strong and interesting character,

Compelling for its look at an underserved subject (the plight of gay men in nascent Nazi Germany), and a corker of a story to boot. Well written and leaves you with a taste for more in the series.
