While Violet's the titular character, it's her great-niece Vivian who steals the show here as the sort of snappy, lightning-witted, sparkling-repartee sort of '60s gal who'd make the perfect center for a successor to Mad Men. In some ways similar to another book I just finished (Lauren Willig's The Ashford Affair), but this one is superior for having more characters that crackle off the page. ...more
