I have read a lot of fiction and non fiction about WWII. Despite that, I didn’t have a lot of information about the sequence of events for Poland, which may have been the most devastated. This book is based on a real family, it was so interesting to connect those pieces after finishing the book. The stories of survival never cease to amaze me.

3.5🌟

Georgia Hunter retells the story of her family and how they were dispersed from Poland across the globe as a result of the Holocaust. Her story gave me new insights about World War II and the ways in which Jewish people resisted their systematic oppression and extermination. It's a story of tight family bonds and individual determination to survive. Writing wise it was fine, though a bit too mechanical for my tastes.
