I have read a lot of fiction and non fiction about WWII. Despite that, I didn’t have a lot of information about the sequence of events for Poland, which may have been the most devastated. This book is based on a real family, it was so interesting to connect those pieces after finishing the book. The stories of survival never cease to amaze me.

Georgia Hunter retells the story of her family and how they were dispersed from Poland across the globe as a result of the Holocaust. Her story gave me new insights about World War II and the ways in which Jewish people resisted their systematic oppression and extermination. It's a story of tight family bonds and individual determination to survive. Writing wise it was fine, though a bit too mechanical for my tastes. ...more
