What Members Thought
I really wanted to like this book but it became a chore to sit down and read. Lifeless characters and hard to keep track of who was who as the author jumped from one to another each chapter. Could have used the family tree on each page. This novel was based on the author's family history, perhaps would have been better with a couple hundred pages cut by the editor. The overall telling of the Holocaust was good and saved this book from a one star rating.

Heart wrenching and gripping from the very beginning. Based on a true story. Beautiful character development, and excellent pacing.
