I remember reading and enjoying this in elementary school, and a friend told me she enjoyed reading it with her son, so we tried the audiobook (my 9 y/o, 7 y/o and 5 y/o)—it was so much fun!
Note: There are some very slight cringeworthy references to Indians and women that may warrant discussion. They are, of course, representative of the attitudes from that period in history. I try to not censor this but instead discuss it with my kids.
