First a confession: I was annoyed when I first started this book that I had been duped (again) into buying YA fiction, and thought it was all going to be about that- the narrator is a boy, and the story revolves around him and his younger sister. I have to say that I was wrong: the characters who are half Jewish in the time of the Holocaust were well drawn and quickly caught my attention.
