I somehow liked this more than The Miniaturist, which I thought a bit overhyped. The Muse has a very interesting premise - lost painting, mysterious artist, lives torn because of war. And it talked a lot about women's roles, in the 30s during the war and in the 60s, especially because one of the main characters is a Black girl from Trinidad who migrated to London.

But I don't really like the ending, so I decided not to give it 3 stars rating.

At first, I was really intrigued by this story. There were elements of mystery and I was excited to see how it all panned out. However, it took to long to get there, and by the end the mystery wasn't all that mysterious after all. The characters were kind of flat, but I did like the writing. ...more
