Loved this book - I was sad when I finished. I have always been intrigued by the story of the Romanovs and their tragic and mysterious demise, and this book was about Tatiana, not the usual Anastasia. As in so many newer books, the story goes back and forth between the present day and a time in history. This author did it particularly well and I found that I enjoyed both related story lines equally. Perfect historical fiction.

This was often and in a 3 🌟 and 4 🌟 novel. I really enjoyed the theme of another story of the Romanov family, as there is so much mystery surrounding their sad demise. The research and realistic factual information appealed to me, as a history lover. The back and forth between current day and the past was really enjoyable as it tied the family together through their past and histories. There was mystery and intrigue, romance and historical significance.

This book was recommended by a friend, she told me that I "needed" to read it, and this book did not disappoint! I am definitely a sucker for any Romanov story! I also enjoyed the parallel story lines of Dmitri and Kitty, and I was at the edge of my seat seeing how everything would wrap up! I have also never read any of the Romanov stories involving Tatiana, so that was a fun bonus!

The Romanovs have always had an aura of mystery surrounding them, in spite of their tragic history. This one explores what might have happened between Tatiana and her admirer, who secretly marries her. Told from two different times in history, the two stories gradually blend as the mystery unravels.

I didn’t enjoy reading this book at all and was bored at times.
I find it a shallow rewrite of the Russian revolution with very superficial relationships between characters. I truly wish there was more in depth construct and writing of romantic relationships between characters.
As for the historic references to the Russian revolution, this doesn’t even scratch the surface.
Somehow I needed more. 1 star.
