A lengthy but deeply engrossing book that brings homicide work to a level that allows a layperson like myself to get a better sense of what it's like to do this job day to day. I know intellectually that like any other career, it will have its successes and failures, its moments of humor and despair, but Simon draws that out in a way that's still vivid decades later.
