A very quick read. 3.5 stars. I enjoyed the prose.
Amazing! I loved Brown Girl Dreaming so much I wasn't sure how this would live up to my high expectations. It exceeded them all! This complex little book is powerful, evocative, beautiful and heartbreaking. In other words, it gave me ALL the feels. Highly recommend! Run, do not walk, and get this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is moving and incredibly well written. It is a quick read and led to a surprisingly good book club discussion. The sense of place Woodson creates of 1970s Brooklyn feels very authentic.
