This book won the Edgar in 1985, beating out title from Ruth Rendell and Jonathan Kellerman. It is easy to see why. It's told from an entirely different angle. Since the murder occurs at the beginning of the book and the reader knows who that person is, that is not the point of the story. It is about the relationship between the killer and the victim which is much more complicated
