3.5 really. I started this book and didn't read anything else until I finished it, so the story kept me engrossed enough to keep reading. I do think that I would read another book by this author.

I didn't really look closely at the description when I grabbed this at the library...so fair warning, it deals with some very distressing issues like child porn and abduction (usually topics I stay away from in my reading). That said, this was a well crafted psychological thriller. It kind of ran out of steam at the end, but it definitely kept me up reading well past my bedtime.

If you disregard the misleading comparison to Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, you're more likely to enjoy this book for what it is. Well-written and well-conceived, The Widow, told from several points of view engages the readers with fleshed out characters. Rather than a psychological thriller, the book, in my opinion, reveals the many ways a tragic situation is exploited by various parties.
