I was going to give this book 4.5 stars until I got about 30pp from the end and almost couldn't read for the tears.
I've checked this book out (and returned it) many times, but it finally found its time. A beautiful read that almost feels like a classic, and reminded me numerous times of Downton Abbey, it explores a community's response to the time period just prior to and during WWI.
I think what I'll be left with after the months pass is the strength of the women in this, women of all classes ...more
