This book felt like a sequel to the film "The Big Chill" with the characters having aged another twenty years. I often had the sensation that I was reading a screenplay instead of a novel. O'Brien uses a thirty year college reunion for the class of 1969 as a jumping off point to tell a series of vignettes about moments in the attendees' lives.
