If you enjoy books that explore the relationship between someone very old and another very young, you'd probably really like this. The writing is smooth and easy to read and I fell for the main characters immediately. I was sucked in quickly and the pages effortlessly turned. The audio performance was also good. Not perfect, but serviceable and enjoyable.

Are we all tempted to judge a book by its cover? I know I do. I was looking for a light but not too light uplifting read and this cover seemed

Such a hard novel to describe: quirky, sad, funny, beautiful and at times frustrating. But I'm sitting here crying at the end, knowing I am going to miss these characters. 4.5 stars ...more

I seem to have a thing for books about "old people" lately, and like the others I've read this tender story broke my heart open yet again. So many wonderful characters, such painful struggles, but ultimately . . . redemptive and beautiful. I expected Ona (the old woman) to be my favorite, or maybe the boy, but though both of those characters were appealing, in the end, I decided Quinn was the one I cared about the most.

Have a box of tissues handy if you read this one through to the end.
