This book was a bit of a disappointment. I guess that because I'm unfamiliar with Joan Didion or John Dunne I wasn't able to fully appreciate all of their contacts & the contexts in this book. The simultaneous loss of her husband & daughter almost dying seems like a nightmare to most of us .... ...more

Compelling, poignant, candidly speaks about how death affects the survivor. A beautifully-written yet raw account of the partnership of marriage and what happens when that partnership must end.
