I'm feeling ambivalent about reviews -- one, because my eyes usually glaze over on reviews and two, because if I'm not usually interested in a synopsis. How do you review a book without regurgitating characters and plot? What really makes for a good review? Especially on a social network site like this. Oh well, I'll opt for my four or five sentences of impressions after reading the book.

Basically a novel about two opposing factions, those that believe no animals should be euthanized and those that feel non indigenous species should be eliminated from environments in which they atr non native because they upset the balance nature intended. While both sides are a bit exaggerated, Boyle presents a situation in which no one is "right" and the opposing viewpoints could lead to a lively discussion.

One of those books where you're really not meant to love any of the characters and noble motives are easily sideswiped by fervor, but perfect for the theme of environmentalism and its travails.
