Poignant, touching, exquisite book about the lives of a group of elderly people who are together only by virtue of their living in the same hotel. Brilliantly written, but sometimes sad portrayal of physical decline with intact mental faculties and emotions. Add to this some prejudice,the overlay of English manners and the keeping up of face, and you have this book.
