What Members Thought

To date probably one of my favorite Maigret books. I suspect this particular entry, due to the various conflicts and resentments between the classes, probably resonates more with a French reader, and some of that might even be dated at this point. (Certainly the Catholic Church isn't the presence it was when the novel was written.) That said, the lines are discernible enough, and it's still a cracking good mystery whose outcome shouldn't have surprised me, but it still did.
