I am not an aviation buff, so most of the information in this biography was new to me. David McCullough does not disappoint in his telling of history and the impact of the Wright brothers and their work nor in his presentation of the small details that communicate a personality. It's clear from the beginning that McCullough prefers Wilbur. It's hard to tell if he focuses on him more because of that preference or because of his part in the story.

David McCullough does it again with his very readable historical biography of Wilbur and Orville Wright, the inventors of the first powered sustained flight in an aircraft . What impressed me about the Wright brothers is that they did it with very little help. They often had to create the parts, that just were not available to them. If it didn't work at first they kept trying until it did work.

Fascinating account of the amazing Wright brothers and the development of their flying machines and piloting skills. Thoroughly enjoyed this read by the eminent historian, David McCullough, who could make the history of practically anything a fascinating, education, worthwhile and engaging read.
