This book was horrifying and captivating! It gives the history of Marburg and Ebola, both terrible, related viruses that are quite different than most other viruses. This book is not for those with weak stomachs or if you are uncomfortable hearing troubling medical symptoms. Marlburg, Ebola Sudan, and Ebola Zaire start with an intense headache, glassy eyes, and soon progress to your organs being essentially consumed by the virus and the victims bleeding out through every orifice. Read in college, I believe. Did I read this while avalanched in at Snowbird? Or was that The Lost World? Hm... I don't think I read this right when it was published.

I read this in the early 90's when it first came out. I just read it again when I got it on kindle. Holy crap, still scary as anything you could ever read. Now I remember why this one stuck with me. Scary virus, origins, how it spreads. Ebola is terrifying. You learn a lot, and you won't sleep at night. Forget monsters. This stuff is real folks. Be educated.
