I've always shied away from reading (or going to movies) about Vietnam. It was always a little too close to home. As a Baby Boomer it was the war that defined my youth. My brother was in the army Airborne for two tours and came back a mess -- PTSD, Agent Orange, and lots of emotional problems. After reading Chickenhawk I think I understand a bit better what he went through. Poor guy. While some of the book is hard to read --emotionally wrenching -- it is a good story, well told, and I thoroughly ...more

A vivid account of the Vietnam War from a helicopter pilot that shows how PTSD got its name. Chilling especially when you realize how true it is.
