Este o carte extraordinară, o recomand din tot sufletul și chiar dacă mi-a stors la un moment dat câteva lacrimi, am adorat-o de la prima până la ultima pagină! Un alt punct forte al cărții care merită menționat este descrierea plină de epitete și metafore care fac din roman unul extrem de melodios.

This was an amazing story of a young English woman who married a tea planter from Ceylon and moved there to live with him on his tea plantation. There were many circumstances that affected their happiness - the sister-in-law who would not leave the plantation and exerted undue influence on the husband; an old girlfriend who doesn't want to let go; the natives just coming in to their own in terms of wanting independence from England and to not be slave-type labor any longer; devastating problems
