Initial, am crezut ca va fi o lectura captivanta, dar au fost multe elemente care au incetinit lectura. Iar astfel am ajuns sa o termin dupa aproape doua saptamani. Blanca este o spaniola, profesor universitar, care soseste in California pentru un proiect. Lucrand la acel proiect vast, ii cunoaste pe Rebecca, Fanny, Daria, Luis si Daniel. Interesting idea and very nice theme for the novel, but it had 2 things which I did not liked that much:
- extremely slow start, despite certain sporadic information, the actual conflict that sets up the rest of the novel happens somewhere after first 300 pages, which is way to late for most readers;
- still has some major influences from academic writings, quite rigid and scholastic at times.
Overall, a nice read, but I believe the debut novel of Maria Duenas is probably better.
