I'm not sure how I feel about this. I found Annabelle's story gorgeous, compelling, and heart-wrenching, like something out of a Bronte novel. But I never really warmed to Pepper Schuyler. I kept hoping that the ending would tie things together nicely, but it didn't satisfy me. I listened to the audiobook (which was well-done) so it's possible that I accidentally zoned out at some point towards the end and missed some plot points? There were SO MANY threads left dangling! I received this book through Netgalley as an advanced reader in exchange for an honest review.

I had been waiting for the release of this book after having read The Secret Life of Violet Grant and Tiny Little Things. The three books each tell a story about one of the three Schuyler sisters - Vivian, Tiny and finally, Pepper.

The sister's stories take place in the 60's and each book has another interwoven story to tell, taking place earlier in the century. This book did not disappoint. Pepper's s ...more

This book is a four star summer read. It was fun - the women were smart, gorgeous, and adventurous, the men were unbelievably handsome, strong and had great hair. There were Nazis, unplanned pregnancies, and drama due to mistakes in communication. What else would you want for a summer read?
