The Sound of Gravel is an extremely well-written and heartbreaking autobiographical account in the same genre as Educated and Glass Castle. Wow. I was pretty much smh the whole entire book. Just incredible how the stepdad was supported by the community & his wives in being his creepy slimy self. Amazed he got away with the stuff he got away with. Yuck.
So glad the author & siblings broke free. It felt a little like The Sound of Music but instead of the the Alps it was the Mexican border they were crossing.
All the babies! The women continually getting pregnant infuriated me. All in the name of the lord. Eyeroll, yeah ok.
