Some families are less orthodox than others.
Delightful! This is: a mystery, a ghost story, and a romance, set on the English sea coast shortly after WWI. A large part of my delight derives from the delicious romance. If you think romance has no place in a ghost story mystery, you may not enjoy this one. Another large part of my delight comes from the question: is this really a ghost story? or is there a Sccoby Doo reveal at the end and all along it was just a cranky old guy banging on walls? ...more

Simone St. James always delivers the most atmospheric writing. This one was a combination of ghost and human mystery and was thoroughly enjoyable. There were some interesting plot twists and the story was quite good. The only issue I had was quite small, I could not understand Jillian's sympathy for the villain (and his accomplice), especially after everything he/they did against so many people, including her.
