I'm reading this book out of order, having first accidentally read One Year After.
Even though I have an inkling of what's going to happen, I still can't put it down.
Love Forstchen's writing.
It's a compelling story set very near my grandparents' mountain cabin.

Scary to think this could actually happen. Although I disagreed with how quickly things might deteriorate, it was fascinating to be forced to think through all the things we take for granted in our lives and how irretrievably lost they'd be if America was hit by an EMP. Excellent book about the fallout after an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP). A very realistic novel detailing the downfall of society that really detailed what happens when the small things we take for granted are suddenly gone. It gave me a nightmare the first night I was listening to it which means it was certainly a good read.

Although a science fiction, it makes us think of what might become of our nation/s by just one single EMP (electro magnetic pulse) missile attack. No electricity, no electronics, no cars, no food etc. It's so real you forget it's just a story.
